It shows no symptoms so that it does not require immediate treatment but the growth of the tumor can cause a serious problem. Meningioma will be mostly seen in women than in men. If will be formed in the central nervous system. Some meningiomas not considered as the beginning or cancerous but some times they became dangerous to human health. The small number of meningiomas can be said as cancerous and they will grow fast, they will spread to all part of the brain and even it can be spread to lungs. Symptoms shown by meningioma

Meningioma is a fast-growing tumor and mostly it won’t shows any symptoms rarely it shows some symptoms if it is fully developed. The symptoms are

  • Headaches
  • Seizures
  • Blur vision
  • Weakness in arm
  • Weakness in leg
  • Numbness
  • Speech problem

How the treatment is been done?

Mostly this tumor will not show any symptoms so observation is been re-cemented. The doctors will be doing a regular brain scan to check whether the tumor is growing or not. If the tumor grows it will be spreading to other parts and at that times it will show symptoms, in this stage surgery is required. During the surgery the piece of bone will be removed from the skull, this is removed for the doctors to check inside. If the doctors are not able to reach the tumor by normal surgery then they will go for radiation therapy in which the tumor will shrink and prevent it from growing. Chemotherapy will also be done in rare cases except in atypical or malignant. The treatment will be done when surgery and radiation treatment won’t work.

Risk factors in meningioma

Radiation treatment– IN radiation treatment the radiations given to the head will increase the risk for meningioma

Female hormones -This disease is seen commonly in the female. Few studies were done in female meningiomas and they came to a result that the link between breast cancer and meningioma is related to some hormones.

Inherited nervous system disorder– Some rare disorder will increase the cause in meningioma and other brain tumors

Obesity– based on several studies done, till now the relationship between obesity and meningiomas is not clear.
