COVID-19 Molecular Diagnostics
How does it work?
RT-PCR Molecular tests look for the coronavirus RNA in the airways of people who may carry the virus. Hence, the purpose of these tests is to find people carrying the virus among one of the following two categories:
• Patients to be isolated or patients to be cured depending on the degree of involvement
• Asymptomatic virus carriers who might still be contagious and who must be locked down to avoid the spread of the virus.
BD Max: an efficient way to detect SARS-CoV-2
With over 24 million confirmed cases of COVID-19 in only 9 months, there has been a strong urge to find an efficient method to detect the virus. Hence, BD Max helps labs and clinicians work on better management of the pandemic by allowing an exceptionally accurate detection of COVID-19. Indeed, by testing a larger part of the world’s population, BD Max leads to a better isolation of the infected patients which, in turn, lowers the spread of SARS-CoV-2.
How does it work?
In order to test people suspected of COVID-19, BD MAX System uses BD SARS-CoV-2 Reagents that detect SARS-CoV-2 in nasal, nasopharyngeal and oropharyngeal swabs samples.
Such method relies on multiplexed primers and probes that target RNA from the nucleocapsid phosphoprotein gene (N1 and N2 regions) of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus, as well as the human RNase P gene.

CerTest VIASURE SARS-CoV-2 Real Time PCR Detection KIT
By creating the first Real Time PCR Detection KIT, CerTest VIASURE SARS-CoV-2, BD offers an accurate identification of SARS-CoV-2 in respiratory samples from patients suspected of COVID-19. The CerTest VIASURE PCR Detection KIT relies on the extraction and the amplification of RNA using RT-PCR. For a better detection of RNA, fluorescent reporter dye probes are used. In order to offer a more accurate and secure diagnosis, CerTest VIASURE PCR Detection KIT holds all the needed components for RT-PCR assay in addition to an internal control that helps oversee PCR inhibition.
